Never miss a bill: a monthly checklist
Late fees and credit card interest rarely come from not having the money: they come from nothing reminding you. Here are the bills that belong in your reminders.
Monthly bills
- Electricity and water
- Home internet and mobile
- Every credit card (the due date, not the statement date)
- Rent and building fees
- Instalments: gadgets, car, home
- Subscriptions: Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, iCloud
Yearly bills people forget
- Car tax and compulsory insurance (Por Ror Bor)
- Car, health and life insurance
- Driving licence and passport renewals
- Domains and yearly memberships
Remind at the right time
A day ahead is enough for monthly bills. Yearly ones deserve a week, since they often need documents or a lump sum.
Do not count it twice
If you already note card swipes as spending, paying the card bill is not new spending; counting it again inflates your totals.
Write it once, reminded every time
In Dump, type "internet 599 every month, due 10 Oct" or "car tax before 12 Oct". It knows it is a bill, repeats the reminder, counts instalments, and does not count card bill payments twice.
